Please do not use our swords like this.
We have had a lot of fun with our swords and have cut our share of fruit and other things but it is just like going to the shooting range. You need to take safety precautions. You would never think to shoot at a target that was being held by a friend because you understand the consequences of not being accurate. I took hunter safety when I was young and am very familiar with gun safety and expect gun safety from all who are around me. For some reason that does not seem true for some people who buy swords.
Many of our customers are martial art professionals and they understand and have trained with swords but some just want to buy swords and knives because they are cool. We agree they are very cool but they are also very dangerous. I have nicks and cuts all over my hands from just simple mistakes like trying to catch a sword that gets knocked off a table and your natural reaction is to grab it before it hits the floor. Or trying to catch a loose scabbard that slides off and hitting your hand on the blade instead. We warn against this but expect some of these things to just happen. What we don't want and hope does not happen is that you willfully do something that the risk for injury is high. When I saw this video someone sent me I just had to hope this is not our customer and that he did not lose a finger. I am sure he will be more careful in the future but it is better to just believe the stove is hot then to have to touch it and burn yourself before you really believe.
